Google is going to be more serious about ads on Maps. How?
The company will introduce “promoted pins ” or “promoted locations” on Maps so users will see branded pins along their route.
How promoted pins work
Local business who want to promote themselves on Maps will need to use location extensions to appear in promoted pins. Google also says that it’s still testing formats so we have to wait and see what’s going to happen in the future. Google promoted pins will also lead to a restyling of local pages: new features and customizations will be added such as local product inventory or promotions and discounts to encourage store visits.
Google Promoted Pins, what’s the purpose? The purpose of these ads is to drive offline foot traffic and conversions.
